Putting Away the Crystal Ball

This time of year, I have been known to write about my vision for the year ahead. I’m not doing that this year. After years of focusing lots of energy on visioning and manifesting and trying to bring in the best year ever, I want to take it one day at a time, whatever each day brings.

My friend pointed out that there are numerous ways to go into Rosh Hashanah – serious and joyful and motivated and mindful and so on. You have to pick one and just go with it. As another friend reminds me, “Lakol z’man v’eis…”

The basics this time of year are teshuva, tefillah, tzedaka. Some ideas:

Teshuva – write a list of your struggles and a possible solution for each.

Tefillah – take 30 seconds of quiet before opening your siddur, or try to daven shemoneh esreh every day, or say some Tehillim.

Tzedaka – give to a family in your community that needs money for Yom Tov.

May each and every one of you have a kesiva v’chasima tova and a gut gebencht yuhr!
