Some of these are more ‘nonfiction’ than ‘self-help’ but here are some books I enjoyed:
    – The Happiness Project
    – Never Split the Difference
    – The Art of Making Memories
    – Happier Hour
    – Think Again: the power of knowing what you don’t know
    – The Power of Bad: how the negativity effect rules us and how we can rule it
    – The Thank You Project
    – Hello grief: I’ll be right with you
    – The Emotional Lives of Teenagers
    – Untangled
    – You’re Not Listening: what you’re missing and why it matters
    – How to be Single and Happy: science-based strategies for keeping your sanity while looking for a soulmate
    – Bad Therapy (it’s anti-therapy lol, maybe you shouldn’t read it :))

What a great list! Thanks for taking the time to share it, S.D.!
Re Bad Therapy, I agree that there is a lot of bad therapy out there!! Hopefully not my work, lol.
I absolutely love How to Be Single and Happy. I like Gretchen Rubin’s work, just not the actual Happiness Project books. Also love Happier Hour! I’m going to take a look at the others, thanks!

Happier Hour is definitely my favorite from all the ‘happiness’ books I’ve read. I gave The Happiness Project a spot on the list because it was the first book in its genre that I had read and it got me started. 🙂
Let me know if you like any of them! Would be happy to hear your recommendations as well.

          Ooh, let me think.
Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? by Julie Smith is full of really practical advice about mental health.
I just enjoyed The Joy of Connections by Ruth Westheimer. On the topic of social connection, I also enjoyed Together by Vivek Murthy (a much deeper dive).
How To Know a Person by David Brooks was very good.
Always recommending Self-Compassion by Kristin Neff.
          Loving Bravely by Alexandra Solomon
What’s Your Grief by Eleanor Haley and Litsa Williams
(I’ve mentioned some of these before).
