Hi, all. It’s that time of year, when we review the list of not-really-goals I set before last Rosh Hashanah. I did so-so this year. Here we go:
- Read all the Caldecott award winners in order. I started this project and at book 40-something I realized that many of these books are boooring. What I really wanted to do was read more picture books in 5784, so that’s what I did instead.
- Complete the Journal to the Self instructor certification. I got an email from JTTS about an upcoming sale on this certification and then I didn’t get (or at least notice) a follow-up email with the actual sale and I never followed up because I was feeling a bit saturated with trainings. I’d like to do this eventually but don’t have a time frame in mind.
- Subscribe to a magazine. Did not do and don’t plan to at this time.
- Take an hour to organize my maaser. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t do this, I really need to. Oy.
- Cook at least 10 new recipes. Hmm. I cooked a few but probably not 10. I should add that I have just not gotten back into cooking in my (no longer) new apartment. I’m just not into it.
- Learn how to play Settlers of Catan. Did not do.
- Learn how to blow dry my hair. Did not do. (Yes, $$$$, what will be, who knows).
- Visit Israel. Yes!
- Visit my childhood babysitter. I still really want to do this but I didn’t yet. I would say this is my most important outstanding goal. This will be very emotional for me which is why I’ve been dragging my feet.
- Work on my great-grandmother’s Stone of Remembrance. This costs 700 euros (somehow I missed that) so I decided not to right now.
- Buy a spring jacket. I bought my Uniqlo fuzzy zip-up which isn’t quite a spring jacket but it works.
- Give a Journal to the Self course. I didn’t do the training (see above) so didn’t do this either.
- Spend time with my nieces in Toms River. Yes, I saw them a few times this year which was so wonderful.
- Have a drink (not that kind) in Bemelmans Bar. Did not do.
- See a ballet. Yes, I just did this last week with my cousin!
- Visit another country. Yes, I surely did this! (I call it my “Central Europe summer.”)
- Buy an ice cream maker and make ice cream. Hahaha, I totally forgot about this one.
- See Wicked on Broadway. I plan to take my sister for her birthday later this fall.
- Re-read the Harry Potter series. I read most of it! So wonderful. It’s better than I remember!
- Submit my LCSW paperwork. Yes, I did this last week!
I got some stuff done, lost interest in others, and still have a few important items left to work on. I’m formulating a post on my thoughts about goal-setting for the coming year, so come back for the follow-up.
Have a great day!
