This compendium of travel tips is super fun to read! Some of my (paraphrased) favorites:
- the most significant criteria when choosing a travel companion is whether they complain
- don’t balk at the price of admission to the museum or site – you’ve come too far to skimp now
- it’s always colder at night than you think it should be
- get the most recent version of the guidebook (I try to get the most recent one available at the library, at minimum with a post-COVID publication date)
And these are my travel tips:
- you can never take too many pictures – when in doubt, take the picture
- what is most important to you?
- don’t try to get work done while you’re traveling
- travel is a collection of shining moments strung together by more time than anticipated in transit
- in the moment, you may need the bathroom, get stuck in the rain, have a toe blister, and walk ten minutes in the wrong direction – but much of the joy of travel is in the anticipation and the recollection
