I recently saw an interesting, though not completely surprising, study that found that spending money to outsource tasks and save time resulted in more happiness than spending money on material items. The study participants were each given $40 and told to spend it in one of these two ways. What was most interesting to me was that when a group was asked how they would choose to spend a gift of $40, only 2% said they’d use it to save time. And about half the millionaires surveyed for the study reported that they did not outsource tasks to save time. All this to say, I think it’s really interesting how research can show us ways to have better lives that we may not have considered before. Here’s to buying time .
