This new online life might be far from ideal but I’m kind of leaning into the craziness and allowing myself to not be so productive. One of the side effects of spending half the day (okay, exaggeration, but only slightly) on Zoom is that you end up opening all these tabs and going down rabbit holes and clicking on links and by the end of the day, you’ve been around the world (political, commercial, culinary, whatever) from the comfort of your room.
A snapshot of some of my recently opened tabs:
The Metropol Hotel, which has been on my bucket list since I read A Gentleman in Moscow. Dreaming…
Did you know about JChef? My friend used the service a few times and I want to try it for fun at some point. (Forget tabs open on my computer, I have all these tabs open in my brain…)
Looked for another puzzle and settled on this one, which I saw in the store but now it’s out of stock online and I am seriously going to call the company.
They recommend learning a new language through Duolingo so I clicked on it…(Anyone try it?)
Searched for the source for a quote, found Dostoyevsky.
Oh, and of course there’s the sea otter live cam. And the quiz. (I’m Selka.) Enjoy!
What tabs do you have open?
I loved a Gentleman in Moscow. So cool that you can actually see the hotel online! His other book, Rules of Civility is also amazing and it’s set in NY so all the sites are a lot more accessible.
I tried Duolingo and actually learned a lot before falling off the bandwagon. It could be annoying sometimes, like if you spell a word with a typo the whole answer gets marked wrong. But it’s fun, especially the stories section. The streaks and hearts are very motivating and once I wasn’t maintaining my streak I lost interest. I should go back to it!
Thanks for the info!!
