Six Months

Last week was next-level chaotic for me, and when I took inventory of everything that had gone down, I could not believe what had transpired over a mere seven days. I decided to take inventory of the past six months. It’s been…a real six months there.

Since mid-August 2024…

  • I went to Warsaw/Krakow/Vienna.
  • I had a really disappointing egg freezing cycle.
  • My cousin passed away.
  • One of my best friends got divorced. This was my second best friend to get divorced in three months.
  • I took three classes in the fall semester and was at my computer from 9 am to 10 pm every Thursday. How?? Why???
  • I went on a solo trip to Miami.
  • I finished my three years, did the paperwork, took the exam, and got my LCSW.
  • I started a chat for local singles and hosted a gathering at my parents’ house attended by 20 women.
  • I had a dating parsha that was really intense.
  • My oldest nephew had his bar mitzvah (“out of town”).
  • Three cousins got engaged, one wedding took place which I went to but I plan to skip the other two.
  • I planned a trip and went to Paris.
  • I came back to a huge amount of apartment-related stress and my parents moved out my belongings in three hours and I’m in touch with a rav about a monetary dispute and don’t even ask.
  • I started planning a trip to Amsterdam because apparently it’s hard for me to stay in the present right now. I know it’s a privilege to be able to use international travel as a coping mechanism. Also, I really need to be saving more money and this isn’t wise.
  • Mixed into everything was a presidential election and a few Yomim Tovim and social working and teaching and YEAH.

So. Basically. A lot can happen in six months. If you ever feel stuck, maybe take inventory of the past six months. (I’m not saying that everything that happened over the past six months was positive, obviously, but just a lot happened and changed). And maybe you’ll find some positive changes. Maybe you’ll find a trickle.

Please send thoughts and prayers…what can I say.
