Gretchen Rubin mentioned this fun prompt on a recent podcast episode: write a list of your personal quirks. Challenge accepted!
- I don’t drink coffee ever. It makes my hands shake and my heart pound.
- I don’t drive on highways or in most unfamiliar cities. This definitely limits me, but I’m letting it ride (pun unintended) for now.
- I don’t parallel park either.
- I love books, but sustained reading can actually be quite hard for me. (I blame my phone).
- I have a masters degree in speech therapy that I no longer use.
- I read CVs for enjoyment.
- I never learned how to ride a bike but would still like to.
- I have a major sweet tooth and occasionally have cookies or ice cream for supper.
- I am minimalist (definitely to a fault) when it comes to my wardrobe. I want to train myself to buy more clothes.
- I love the idea of homemaking but do not like it in practice.
- I love reading out loud to other people (children and adults).
- I do not enjoy board games or card games.
- I have not officially worked out in years. This is not a good thing, but it sure is my thing.
- I do not fall in love easily.
- I would go so far as to say that I enjoy davening at kevarim.
- I listen to The Ben Shapiro Show most days. I think I started around the 2016 election. I would say I am somewhat to the left of Ben on some issues (basically healthcare), and in alignment with him on others. He makes me laugh and at this point it’s just a ritual that feels comforting.
- I have thick, wavy hair but I have never learned how to blow it straight so I pay someone $$$ literally every time (my sisters used to help me when they could).
Gretchen suggested writing a list of 24 but I’m fresh out of ideas!
What are your personal quirks? I’d love to read!
