NYC Day

Hi, all! It’s nice to be back here. I hope you are well.

Recently I went to the city for an appointment, and I decided to make a little trip out of it. I walked from the doctor at Seventh Avenue and West 57th Street all the way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art at Fifth and 82nd. I walked through Central Park past Bethesda Terrace, the Loeb Boathouse, and Alice in Wonderland.

This Disney exhibit at the Met was so charming. I usually spend a few hours when I go to the Met but this time I really only went to the one exhibit and spent about an hour there. Then I walked over to Patis on Lexington Avenue which was packed, so I took a creamy mushroom soup to Central Park and it was delicious. Then I walked downtown along the park, stopping in at the Children’s Zoo to watch the clock strike 2:00. I always enjoy reading bench dedications in Central Park; my favorite this time was a quote from William Wordsworth: “Here I stand, not only with the sense of present pleasure but with pleasing thoughts that in this moment there is life and food for future years.” The bench was dedicated to Charles A. Y. Thompson, New York, 1987. (For $10,000, you too can dedicate a Central Park bench).

So I walked from Fifth Ave and 88th Street to Eighth Ave and 42nd Street and when I added up all my walking from the day it was a total of six miles! And my calves were charley horse for three days!

P.S. Feel free to leave questions or post suggestions here.
