Make Your Younger Self Proud

This morning I was at my computer before 5 am, ready to buy tickets to the Anne Frank House when they opened up my trip dates. And bH I scored them without a problem. Two e-tickets are safely stowed in my inbox. When I curled back up in bed, I had a grin on my face. And I realized it’s not just about the trip I’m anticipating beH. (Obviously the Anne Frank House itself is no cause for glee, but I’m looking forward to the trip as a whole). It’s the pride my younger self feels in my now-self for following through, for doing this thing. For waking up early and being at the ready and buying those tickets, for reserving time off work and booking a flight and hotel in Amsterdam when I did not have a travel partner because I had said I wanted to go for tulip season (my cousin is now joining but for a couple weeks I was going to be doing this solo). For writing it down and making it happen. For not being afraid. For moving forward.

She is so proud. And impressed!

P.S. Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 10 am in Amsterdam for the dates six weeks later – this is usually 4 am EST but because they haven’t changed their clocks yet, it was 5 am. Just wanted to clarify for anyone’s future reference.
