I Got a Kindle

And I’m so excited.

I debated whether to purchase one for awhile (after all, don’t we all love the feel of paper and you can’t use a Kindle on Shabbos) but finally went ahead when it went on sale for Black Friday week. And I’m so glad I did because it is a delightful gadget. I got the basic Kindle and it weighs nothing and the display is so soft on the eyes. I looked here for general information to help me choose which model, and here for information on how to use it with my library. I’m excited to bring it to Miami with me and read on the beach!

Do you use an e-reader? Am I late to the party lol?

I kind of follow Laura Vanderkam’s blog and Substack – I feel like we wouldn’t get along in real life because she is very type-A but I do like some of her ideas about planning and making the most of your time. I am on-again off-again with Cup of Jo because a sizable percentage of the content, not to mention reader comments, is really off-putting to me. But some of her content is also fun and escapist and I haven’t seen anything similar elsewhere but I WISH there was a really truly good (and frum) alternative. I also used to read Gretchen Rubin’s blog when it was posted chronologically like an actual blog, but now it is more of a website with article categories so I don’t follow it (I am a regular listener of her podcast, though). I’m definitely interested if you have any recommendations!!
