How Was Yom Tov?

Hello, all, I hope you had a good Yom Tov. My family went away for Pesach for the first time in years. It was the most refreshing change. There’s nothing like a vacation for helping everything come back together. The only downside was that my married siblings and their kids weren’t with us.

A few highlights: We spent hours and hours with our grandparents and relatives we hardly get to see. My sisters and I sang out loud at the Seder for the first time since we were little (I think this was the first time we were immediate-family-only at the Seder). I bought myself a Nesivos Shalom to learn on Pesach, which really enhanced my Yom Tov. I walked a lot (my new pedometer was serious motivation).

What was easy: Not having to clean our house or cook most meals. What was hard: Packing. Packing always makes me anxious.

I enjoyed this book, and believe it or not, this. I also rediscovered Rabbi Tatz’s book.

It would have been nice to have beautiful machzorim of my own, and I have my eye on a specific set. If no one beats me to it, I plan on buying it for myself by next Pesach.

The truth is, this trip felt very necessary for my family. I think it would have been hard for most of us (including me) to be doing the same thing again for Yom Tov this year. Sometimes you just know when it’s time for a change.

I hope you’re having a smooth adjustment back to work and routine. Have a great week!
