I’m pretty minimalist when it comes to makeup (often it’s just this IT eyeliner), but skincare, I can do. I’m using a few products now that are working well for me so I thought I’d share. Comparison shopping for beauty products can be endless. (It’s helpful to remember that this is a multi-billion dollar industry that thrives on women’s feelings of inadequacy).
I have classic combination skin, for reference.
Origins Checks and Balances face wash. I use this morning and night, followed by moisturizer. It’s very gentle and non-drying.
At night, I use Trader Joe’s Nourish Enriched Intensive Antioxidant Facial Moisturizer. Hard to find online but this product is a great deal (I think it’s $6 for 6 oz. in the store) and is doing the trick for me.
L’Oreal Revitalift eye cream. I had this moment a few months ago when I was like Okay, it’s time for eye cream. I read that it’s a good idea to rotate eye creams to get the benefit of different ingredients (i.e. retinol vs. hyaluronic acid, etc). I only use this one 2-3 times a week because retinol is pretty strong and I don’t want to make my skin more sensitive. On the lookout for something for more basic hydration, as well.
By day, I use La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair face moisturizer with SPF 30. It absorbs well and makes my skin feel soft and smooth. For more sun protection, I still really like this Cotz sunscreen. They say the #1 thing you can do for your future skin is protect it with SPF every single day. I haven’t always been good about this but recently I got really on top of it.
So…anything else I should be using?
