Goals Update: March

Hello, all,

Hard to believe that Pesach is around the corner and we have finished the first quarter of the calendar year. Here is an update on my list of items for 2025:

  • I realized that I don’t like tracking daily habits, so I have replaced my daily walk goal and daily fruit and vegetable goal with two new items: donate blood and finish lingering courses. The latter is underway, as I’ve finished watching the playback from a course I signed up for in September, and am in the midst of the playback from a course that happened in June. Also on my list is an asynchronous course that I started almost a year ago and dropped in middle.
  • I gave away more than 20 articles of clothing so that is done!
  • I take a Vitamin D supplement most days — this goal is underway.
  • I am working with a dietician. The goal is to improve the quality of my daily diet, i.e. increase nutrient density. We have had two sessions so far so I will say this goal is underway.
  • I did a mini scavenger hunt at the Met and I will call this goal done. I joined a Pesach-themed tour with Elana Kaplan and arrived about an hour early, so in that time I decided to look for objects representing the four elements (minor obsession?) and here is what I came up with: Leda and the Swan sculpture for water (I didn’t have much time and yes I know Leda needs a sweater), a ruby red sofa for fire (there are candelabras and fireplaces all over the decorative arts section but this sofa called to me), a porcelain service painted with birds for air, and a tapestry called “October” for earth (I cannot believe they do not have a color picture on the website, it was quite impressive in person). Well, I think you may have gotten more than you bargained for just now?
  • I have distributed all remaining items from the medical supplies gemach. Done!
  • From my reading list — well, I’ve mostly forgotten about the list itself but have rarely been without a book downloaded on my Kindle so I am in a good place with that.
  • And from my list of dreams, I saw Riverdance! And of course last month, I visited the d’Orsay in Paris. I’ve also seen Wicked twice since posting my list. And (lehavdil), I davened at the kever of the Bach in Krakow this past summer. I hope to do a few more items on the list when I go to the Netherlands next month iy”H. Wow. So grateful to see dreams coming true. (I’m also ready to write an updated list, lol, but I will hold off).

Here’s wishing you a happy Nisan and a fruitful second quarter!
