Do You Have a Pet?

My therapist shared an article with me about helpful grief supports and as it turns out, the most helpful support people found was in their pet.

The other day, a woman boarded my train with her small dog. It was a fairly empty car, and she gave her dog the seat across from her. As the train pulled out of the station, the dog immediately leaped up to the window to watch the world go by. It was riveted, whipping its head to the side to follow a train on the opposite track streaking by. It was the cutest, most heart-meltingly adorable (and almost-human) sight.

One of my coworkers said that her dog comes running from anywhere in the house when she sneezes, to check if she’s okay. Lol!

Another coworker is getting a puppy she hopes to train as a therapy dog, and is considering the name Maslow. And another has a glossy Persian kitten named Rumi.

Sometimes I wish I had a dog to keep me company in my apartment. (So many reasons why I do not but still). If it was a girl dog, I would name her Sofia after the little girl in A Gentleman in Moscow.

Do you have a pet, or do you wish you did?
