I find myself drawn to books about creativity and the creative life, like Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, The Vein of Gold by Julia Cameron, The Power of Your Other Hand by Lucia Capacchione…My blog is a creative outlet and I have dozens of (abandoned) ideas for creative projects in my Google Docs. The link between creativity and being in shidduchim has niggled at the edge of my awareness for awhile and I think I have found one. Creativity is about connecting to an inexhaustible supply of fresh perspectives, ideas, and solutions. And being a person in shidduchim is so helped by experiencing life in this way.
I want to develop this idea more but I think the heart of creative living is wonder and possibility and abundance, and being in a space of creative living is a healthy place mentally from which to navigate the shidduch process.
Creative living doesn’t equal creating art. It equals living life as a work of art. Words and ideas I associate with this type of living are intuition, adventure, wonder, flow, humor, metaphor, metamorphosis, story arc, quest, discovery.
I like this idea and I’m going to keep playing with it.
