A friend was talking to me about feeling pressure to get a relationship to progress after X number of dates (and did Zoom dates count for the tally?). An analogy came to mind: “Counting dates is like counting trips to the grocery store!” Meaning, it’s not a number with inherent meaning. Dates can be long or short, casual or formal, light or deep, in person or on Zoom or over the phone…It’s about the process overall. Dating is about developing a relationship, and that isn’t linear.
My little reassurance/soapbox: Don’t count dates! Just get to know the other person and let things unfold.
