A fun, escapist post: The other day I was perusing a Chinese auction booklet, and commented to my sister that there were a number of prizes I want to win in theory (like furniture…and wigs!), but won’t really use now. I started to think about what I would include in a Chinese auction if every prize was something I might use here and now. (I recognize that single people can also own or furnish their own homes and I definitely don’t want to perpetuate any sort of single vs. married dichotomy, but since I’m living with my parents, I’m working off of that reality).
So what would I include? Of course, jewelry. A nice watch. Clothing, shoes, and handbags. And getaways — flights, hotels, and restaurants. A trip to Disney World! A magazine subscription. Salon and spa gift cards. Makeup. Ooh, meal delivery, subscription gift boxes. Cash, Amazon gift cards, a Trader Joe’s gift card for fun snacks. Gas money, electronics, AirPods. Uber gift cards! What am I forgetting?
