Checking In

Hi, all. I hope you had a nice Rosh Hashanah. I had some sad news…

But first — I went to a conference at the beginning of last week and came home feeling under the weather. I was up most of Tuesday night and was still feeling really poorly on Erev Rosh Hashanah — so, sadly, I had to cancel my plans after all that. I spent most of Rosh Hashanah in bed/on the couch at my parents and davened at home both days and heard shofar at a neighbor. I think at the end of the day this was the Rosh Hashanah I needed.

On Motzoei Shabbos we got the terrible news that my cousin passed away suddenly on Yom Tov. I am sorry to share this but I couldn’t write this post without it. My cousin was very young, and it just doesn’t make any sense. I keep thinking that this is a mistake, or a trick he’s playing on us. The past few days have been extremely draining, obviously. We had a levaya on Sunday and then I got a day off work on Tuesday to go to my cousin’s shiva.

So basically, not to be a Debbie Downer, but it’s been hard to stay on top of things between one thing and another (so I haven’t been, honestly). I keep telling myself that I’ll get back on track be”H in November, after the Yomim Tovim. In the meantime…just bobbing on the water.

Thank you for reading, you are appreciated!
