And Hashem Remembered Sarah

I am reading And Hashem Remembered Them by Rabbi Zave Chaim Rudman, a bit at a time since it is very deep and I need to concentrate when I read it. I wanted to share one thought from the chapter on Avraham and Sarah.

Avraham and Sarah could not physically have children, and Sarah did not think spiritually they could either because Hashem minimizes miracles in the world. Therefore she thought it was impossible (and so she laughed when she was told she would have a child).

But this hopelessness was itself part of Hashem’s plan. Hashem desired that the first salvation in Klal Yisrael should come from a place bereft of any natural or spiritual reason it could happen. The foundation and structure of Klal Yisrael was built in such a way to teach us that there is nothing outside of Hashem’s capability.

L’ilui nishmas my cousin Chaim Tzvi ben R’ Elya Nota z”l who was extremely sensitive to other people’s pain and whose shloshim is today.
