Mask

Hashem’s name is not mentioned once in the megillah. Sometimes when a story is unfolding, Hashem’s involvement is not apparent until after the fact.

My mother recently went to a shiur with Rebbetzin Rena Tarshish and she suggested reading through the megillah before Purim and paying attention to just how many times “haMelech” is mentioned. Recognizing that Hashem is always behind the scenes. That Ein od milvado. The way she put it — you can daven the megillah (not actually during megillah reading). It can remind you that Hashem is watching from behind the mask. That He is with you when you can’t see Him. And it can give you chizuk.

Wishing you an easy Taanis Esther and a happy Purim!
