Welcome Back!

Hi, all. I hope you had a nice break. Three day Y”T is kind of long, isn’t it? It was a little hard for me to lack structure for so many days this month — it’s a bit like what happens when I can’t sleep at night — some heavy feelings come down. But of course there are enjoyable moments too — lots of them. And, there’s reading. Over Y”T I read an article in Ami Living about a family that took the kids to Europe for the year and I loved it and immediately started imagining my own “sabbatical,” of course. I reread a few kids’ books at my cousins — Savta Simcha and the Incredible Shabbos Bag, Savta Simcha and the Seven Splendid Gifts, The Stray, and Little House in the Big Woods. This in addition to my other books over the past week — Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?, Into the Magic Shop, and How To Educate a Citizen. Lots of reading.

And now we settle down for the long winter ahead (at least in my part of the world). A few things on my calendar I’m looking forward to please G-d: In November I’m taking my sister to see Wicked. Later in the month I’m going to Miami myself for a few days — I haven’t been since this post! Then before we know it, it will be Chanukah (it always gives me a jolt to see hadlakas neiros Chanukah in the Artscroll siddur immediately following hakafos). In early January I have my oldest nephew‘s bar mitzvah iy”H. And later that month is my cousin’s wedding b’shaa tova. B”H for nice things — hopefully lots more!

How was Y”T for you? Did you read anything enjoyable or thought-provoking? What are you looking forward to this winter?

Have a great day!
