Quirks

Gretchen Rubin mentioned this fun prompt on a recent podcast episode: write a list of personal quirks. Challenge accepted! Here we go:

  1. I don’t drink coffee ever. It makes my hands shake and my heart pound.
  2. I don’t drive on highways or in most unfamiliar cities. This definitely limits me, but I’m letting it ride (pun unintended) for now.
  3. I don’t parallel park either.
  4. I love books, but sustained reading has become hard for me. I blame my phone.
  5. I have a masters degree in speech therapy that I no longer use.
  6. I read CVs as a hobby.
  7. I never learned how to ride a bike but would still like to.
  8. I have a major sweet tooth and occasionally have cookies or ice cream for supper.
  9. I am minimalist (definitely to a fault) when it comes to my wardrobe. I want to train myself to buy more clothes.
  10. I love the idea of homemaking but do not like it in practice.
  11. I love reading out loud to other people (children and adults).
  12. I have not officially worked out in years. This is not a good thing, but it sure is my thing.
  13. I do not fall in love easily.
  14. I would go so far as to say that I enjoy davening at kevarim.
  15. I listen to the Ben Shapiro Show most days. I think I started around the 2016 election. I would say I am somewhat to the left of Ben on some issues (ok, basically healthcare), and in alignment with him on others. He makes me laugh and at this point it’s just a ritual that feels comforting.
  16. I have thick, wavy hair but I have never learned how to blow it straight so I pay someone $$$ literally every time (my sisters used to help me when they could).

Gretchen suggested writing a list of 24 but I’m fresh out of ideas!

What are your personal quirks? I’d love to read!
