At one of our pizza gatherings, a friend asked if I could text her writing prompts to help her get into journaling. I’ve sent her dozens of prompts over the past few months and it’s been a lot of fun to read her feedback and hear how beneficial writing has been for her. Among other kinds of prompts, I have been sending her quotes to use as Springboards in her journal. The other day I noticed something funny – the last two quotes I sent her were both about questions and answers and together they tell a story:
“There are years that ask questions and years that answer.” – Zora Neale Hurston
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” – Dr. Seuss
I also think these quote selections came from my subconscious – I’m definitely going through a bit of a foggy stretch trying to find a path forward with so many unknowns. Maybe I will journal using these Springboards myself.
